It’s the little things… March 4, 2011

Like a tiny coffee in a tiny vintage cup.

I picked up two of these pretty blue tea cups on my recent trip to NZ from a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it church op-shop.  I’ve seen this style of tea cup around in plenty of op-shops, but never in this lovely colour.  They have an imprint on the base of the cup that says Made in New Zealand.  I paid the princely sum of 20c for both!

Listen to this beautiful song today and think about all the little things.  You’ll be better for it I think.

I’ve just made this pretty garland to act as signage for my Saponify market stalls.

This Saturday I have a stall at the Reservoir Bazaar at The Winery in Surry Hills.  If you’re in the area make sure you pop by.   It’s a great chance to grab some last minute Christmas gifts, and a fun day out to boot!

I’ll be having a stall at the Reservoir Bazaar Markets this Saturday (20th November).

All of the products in the Saponify range will be on display, so this is the perfect time to come down and stock up for Christmas!

The market is on from 10am – 4pm, so please drop by and say hello if you’re in the neighbourhood!

Good morning!  Last week, Amanda from the blog Calico and Co. interviewed me about my business – Saponify!

The full interview is now live on her site, and you can read it here:  artisan-love-saponify.html

This morning I’m ordering more containers to fill with the ever popular Rose Geranium, Lavender and Mandarin Hand and Body Butter.

I’m expecting a big delivery of Essential Oils, Cocoa Butter, and Organic Shea Nut Butter to be delivered today.  I’m very much looking forward to creating some new goodies for the Holiday season.

I have some very exciting things in the works for Saponify in the coming months.  Stay tuned for more info!

I’m 1 week in to my 4 week challenge and I have a confession to make.  This photo is from last night!

I’ve been busily making soap and jam today and haven’t bothered to get my frock on.  Oops!  I am wearing a skirt though, so that kind of counts doesn’t it?  I kind of figure that since I wore two dresses yesterday I could get away with not wearing one today!

Dress:  Vintage, a gift to myself for my 30th birthday.  From Zoo Clothing in Surry Hills.

Today is Labour Day, so we’re enjoying a very pleasant 3 day weekend.  We just headed out for a short walk to enjoy this lovely spring day.

This dress is a vintage number I scored from a great little recycled clothing store on Crown St in Surry Hills called U-Turn.  It has a very Mad Men kind of feeling to it.  I love the cut of this dress – the waistline is just perfect.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

After my birthday Josephine and I headed down to Melbourne for a few days.  It was my first visit, so we had plenty of exploring to do.

It was very cold and rainy, so we didn’t get to venture out and about as we would have liked.  Mostly we found nice places to eat and drink, and did a spot of shopping.  I’ll show you what I bought for myself in another post I think!

We checked out Meet Me At Mikes in Fitzroy.  I’ve been following Pip’s blog and twitter feed for some time now, so it was very exciting to go to her store.  She wasn’t there the day we went, but we were served by her lovely daughter Rin.  Josephine and I both found ourselves cheap little summer skirts – yay!

This is all the graffiti we managed to photograph due to it being so wet and cold.  I’d like to go back another time and spend some time photographing more of the alleys and laneways.

Great coffee at Sonido on Gerturude St.

A tasty lunch of Arepas at Cruzao Arepa Bar, Brunswick Street.

On our last day we headed out to St Kilda to check out the famed cake shops and ‘beach’.  I loved this old theatre.  I think it’s beautiful.

We shared a slice of the famous plum cake at the Monarch Cake Shop, St Kilda

Back to Sonido for another coffee!

Just before we left for our flight home we headed to Hwaro Korean BBQ for a few beers and snacks.

More photos from our trip are on my Flickr page.

My dear friend Rosa-May is a very talented artist and photographer.  Right now she’s running a giveaway on her beautiful blog, and I think you should head over there and check it out.

She and her sister Stella also have a store full of beautiful illustrated stationary.  I highly recommend you head over there and stock up on their beautiful things.  It would make me so happy if you supported my sweet friends!

The giveaway will be drawn this coming Friday, the 6th of August.  That, my friends, is my birthday!  Go there, enter her giveaway and win something.  I dare you!

Vintage blankets given new life July 27, 2010

I’ve been helping to metamorphisise old into new, unloved into treasured.  Breathing new life into vintage blankets left unwanted on the shelves of country op-shops.

I particularly like this combination of pale yellow blanket matched with variegated wool.

I’ll stitch a little something else on to this beauty.  Perhaps a doilie, we’ll see.  It will come to me in time; it always does.

This bottom one is a smaller version, a baby blanket for wrapping up your smallest, littlest, newest friends or family members.

Both will be available for purchase in my Made It store later this week.

Wrap up, and stay warm friends.
