I’ll be having a stall at the Reservoir Bazaar Markets this Saturday (20th November).

All of the products in the Saponify range will be on display, so this is the perfect time to come down and stock up for Christmas!

The market is on from 10am – 4pm, so please drop by and say hello if you’re in the neighbourhood!

Today is the final day of Frocktober 2010.  I have successfully completed my challenge!

Would you believe that I actually have more frocks than the 31 required for Frocktober?  Off the top of my head I can count another 5 that have not been worn for this month’s challenge.  Most of them need some alterations, or just a little TLC.  I’ll be fixing them up for summer over the coming weeks, and hopefully I’ll get around to posting before and after shots for the world to see.  If not expect to see them next year for another round of Frocktober fundraising!

Frocktober may be over for another year, but you can still donate online for another couple of weeks.  I’ll be doing a round-up post in the coming weeks with my final fundraising total.  If you haven’t donated yet there is still time!

Dress:  This is an oldie but a goodie.  I picked it up from a local Salvos store a few years back for the grand total of about $6.  It’s about two sizes too big, but the roominess is what makes it such a great summer dress.  It’s quite nice to have a dress that’s cotton, and loose under the arms for sweltering summer Sydney days.  I’ve been meaning to take it in for ages, but the more I wear it, the more I realise that it’s just fine as is.  All it needs is a securely fastened belt and it’s perfect.  I am going to change the buttons though.  That’s the least I can do.  Goodness knows what possessed the designers to put ugly desert brown buttons on such a colourful, fun frock.

Today I hosted an afternoon tea and frock swap to raise some funds for Frocktober.  I’ve just looked in the collection tin and there’s $170 in there!  Fantastic!

We all had a lovely time eating cakes, drinking bubbles, and swapping our pre-loved threads.  It poured down right in the middle of our afternoon tea so we all had to move inside quick smart.  This photo was taken right in the middle of the hardest downpour of the day.  The things we do!

Dress:  This one is the perfect picnic dress, a breezy cotton Gorman sundress with silk ties.  Love it.

Today was lovely and warm, and I confess I stayed home in shorts and a tshirt all day.  I had a full day of making, cleaning and tidying at home, and didn’t get a chance to frock up until the Mr got home.  A perfect excuse for taking me out to dinner was that I needed to wear my dress and get a photo – yay!

Tomorrow I’m hosting my Frocktober fund raising afternoon tea and frock swap.  I’m very much looking forward to seeing all my lovely lady friends for an afternoon of fun times!

Dress:  Nicola Finetti zip up LBD.  I love this dress.  It always makes me feel great when I wear it.  Check out last year’s Frocktober photo for the dress sans cardigan.
Cardigan:  Gorman – given to me by a very thoughtful friend for my birthday this year.  You can’t see in this photo but it has little stars all over it.  Cute!

Another day, another foray into awkward self portraits.  This one was taken in a teeny tiny park around the corner from my house.  You could perhaps have a picnic for 4 in it, if you were really good friends.  Although I didn’t actually see anyone watching me it’s quite likely there was someone in one of the town houses wondering what on earth I was doing taking multiple photos of myself.  Poser.

Dress:  Vintage Muumuu!  I believe that this came from my favourite vintage store – Zoo Clothing.  It’s lovely and breezy to wear, and kinda cute I think.  Much more flattering than my other two muumuu’s (both of which you’ll see before the month is out).

Today I rode in to the city to drop off the Mr’s lunch for him.  It’s really great that I can just take a 10 minutes bike ride and be at his work.  So handy!

Today’s dress was a slightly silly choice for a bike ride unfortunately.  The split in the front of the dress makes it easy for my to walk, so it’s a necessary part of the dresses construction.  Unfortunately, when I ride my bike that split ends up at a most unladylike height.  I didn’t realise this before I left the house today.  If you noticed a girl riding her bike along William St today holding the handle bars with one hand, while the other hand was trying to conceal her modesty, it was me.  I’m thinking I may need to invest in some wonderfully 80’s bike shorts for these kinds of dresses.

Dress:  Tailor made for me in Vietnam a couple of years ago.  It’s cotton, and comfortable, and of course fits perfectly.  Made for me even.
Belt:  I picked this belt up from Zoo Clothing a few years back in their moving sale. I think I paid $4 for it.

In other news, I’m hosting a Frocktober Afternoon Tea and Frock Swap at my house this Saturday afternoon.  I’ve asked everyone attending to donate to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.  It should be a fun afternoon, and a great way to raise some much needed funds for the charity.  Yay!

Today I jumped on my trusty old bike and we headed to Glebe together to see my friend Satomi.  Satomi gave my hair a much needed trim and tidied up my somewhat unruly fringe.  It’s amazing how much better I feel now that my bangs have been tamed again, thanks Satomi!

Dress:  Op-shopped, shortened, taken in.  Total cost $4.  This dress wasn’t always so cute.  You can read more about it’s transition from cast-away tent to much beloved frock here.

You’d be right in thinking that this dress looks really formal.

It’s my old school ball gown from my first ball when I was 16!  I do have to say, I’m pretty chuffed that my ball gown still fits me from 14 years ago.

My Mother made it for me, and I just loved it at the time.  When I went back to NZ for a visit at Christmas time I unearthed this beauty and decided to bring it home with me.  You never know when you’ll need a floor length gown I guess.  Now that I am do some sewing myself, I can really appreciate how much work went into making this dress for me.  I avoid sewing with satin at all costs because of the slippyness of the fabric.  Mum must have had the patience of a saint to make this for me.

I do have some vague memories of threatening words being said to the sewing machine though…

Dress:  Handmade for me by my sweet Mum, 14 years ago!

Today it’s a beautiful 25 degrees here in Sydney!  I headed out at lunchtime to meet my Mr for lunch in the domain.  It was lovely riding my bike in the sunshine, in my dress.  It feels like it’s been a very long time since I’ve done that.  Yay for Frocks on bikes!

Dress:  Vintage, from a store on Crown St in Surry Hills.  It’s so very pretty and really comfortable.  I love this dress so!
Bike:  From Sydney Vintage Bikes, just in case you’re interested.  We have so much fun together riding about town.

Today’s Frock is one that I made for myself last year for Frocktober.  I wear it far more often than I ever thought that I would, which is a nice surprise.  It’s super comfortable, and goes really well with my bright pink tights!

Dress:  Wool crepe, handmade by me.
Cardigan:  Ruby, NZ
